on novemeber 13, 2022, four of six university of idaho students in an off campus house were found murdered.
all four are said to have been slaughtered in under fifteen minutes.madison, kaylee, xana, and ethan were massacred in the early morning hours of november 13. during this time dylan and bethany were at home, being left untouched.
approximately eight hours elapsed with bethany and dylan remaining in the home until anyone was called to the scene.
rather than alerting authorities, bethany and dylan summoned their friends to the house. only after friends arrived were authorities notified. neither bethany or dylan contacted authorities themselves.
the 911 call placed by a friend, from dylan's phone, reported that an individual had "passed out and was not waking up". multiple people spoke to the dispatcher before officers arrived.
when first responders arrived at the scene they reported an overwhelming smell of blood upon entering the home. there was blood visibly leaking from the exterior of the house, in line with xana's room.
reports have consistently described the crime scene as "complex", with the coroner even describing the scene as "traumatic", "bloody", and "personal."bryan kohberger was later named as the suspect and subsequently arrested. authorities claim to have found a single source of male dna, later tied to bryan via his father's trash, on the button snap of a "ka-bar" knife sheath. the "ka-bar" knife sheath was found at the crime scene, laying on the bed next to maddie's right side.
